Digital Desk: Two goods trains collided with each other near Singhpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, killing one loco driver and injuring two others. The collision was so intense that the engines of the trains caught fire and the coaches overturned. Two railway employees were reported to be trapped under the coaches.
Reportedly, the goods trains collided 10 km before Shahdol on the Bilaspur-Katni railway track. Following the head-on collision, the train caught fire. The accident was so disastrous that the engine of another train mounted on top of one of the engine.
The accident has been reported to have happened at 6:30 a.m. Top railway officials have arrived at the spot. All trains operating on the Bilaspur-Katni route have been affected after the tragic accident. Officials stated that the rescue operation is presently ongoing.
South East Central Railway issued a bulletin this morning regarding the derailment of 09 wagons, including the engine, after the signal overshoot of a coal-loaded good, train at Singhpur station on the Bilaspur-Katni section of South East Central Railway; rail operations on all three lines up, down, and middle on this route were suspended. The railway authority issued a helpline number 1072.
Rail operations on this route have been hampered.
