Reacting to it, Gandhi tweeted in Hindi, “Insulting the sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi sometimes, praising his killer sometimes, and now the disdain for the sacrifices of Mangal Pandey, Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and lakhs of freedom fighters. Should I call this thinking madness or treason?”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) submitted an application to the Mumbai Police, demanding a case against the Thalaiva actor for her seditious and inflammatory comments.

Moreover, the Congress hits out Kangana Ranaut, demanding that the government take back the Padma Shri award from her that was bestowed to her this month for insulting India’s freedom movement.

Ranaut, who recently received the Padma Shri award, has spawned controversy in the past also with her right-wing comments and jibs at opposition politicians.

For her controversial remark, she was also banned on the microblogging platform Twitter.

Earlier this month, Varun Gandhi was scraped from the party’s National Executive following, appealing for justice for the families of farmers killed in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri and speaking out in support of other farmers protesting the center’s three farm laws.

Varun Gandhi, a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family, joined the BJP in 2004, just a month before the party went out of power but are believed to have fallen out of favour with the leadership in recent years.
