Digital Desk: The Assam Police arrested a fraudster on September 11 for collecting money from many by creating an online relief fund for a child. The arrested man is identified as Rupam Chutia, a native of Moran town.

According to reports, A few months earlier, a relief fund in the name of Anikha Saikia was created in the name of a child to cure her serious disease. A lot of people shared their contribution including the Chief Minister of Assam, who took responsibility for her treatment. Chutia using the picture of the child created an account for a relief fund and started collecting money. Moreover, reportedly even after the death of the child, Chutia did not stop the money-collecting campaign.

After the family members of the child were aware of Chutia's fraudulence, an FIR was registered against him at the Moran Police Station.

Chutia reportedly confessed to his crime. Further investigation is ongoing.
