Digital Desk: In a recent development, the protest in Indian institute of technology Guwahati took a significant turn as the academic dean KV Krishna announced resignation from his post of academic dean on late night, September 10.

Following the death of a third year student Bimlesh Kumar, a number of around 3000 students staged protest against the administration of IIT Guwahati, blaming the administration for the responsible of Kumar's death. Students hold candle march in front of the academic building of IIT Guwahati. According to the students, intense pressure and strict attendance policies of the institution forced Kumar to end his own life.

According to reports, the high level committee of the institution held a meeting with the students, where the academic dean Krishna announced resignation from his post of the academic dean publicly.
