Kundan Hari brutally attacked his, Anuradha Devi, first stabbing her with a knife and then setting her ablaze by opening a cylinder pipe to ignite the fire.
The gruesome act reportedly stemmed from her refusal to allow him to consume alcohol.
Anuradha suffered severe burns, with half of her body engulfed in flames.
The incident occurred around 1 am, prompting Hatigaon police to rush to the scene.
The Hatigaon police immediately arrested Kundan Hari and sent the victim's half-burned body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for further procedures.
The accused has since made explosive statements regarding the incident, leading Hatigaon police to launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
