His resignation follows months of unrest in Manipur and mounting discussions within his party.

Digital Desk: Manipur Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren resigned from his post on Sunday, submitting his resignation letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal. The Bharatiya Janata Party received leadership from Singh as chief minister until he gave up his position because of political unrest alongside BJP intra-party meetings. The resignation takes place after Manipur experienced months of unrest while his party carried out substantial internal discussions.

Earlier during the day Singh  met with  the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.in the meeting , BJP MP Sambit Patra and state ministers with MLAs accompanied him in visiting the Manipur governor to submit his resignation. . In his letter, Singh expressed gratitude to the central government for its "timely actions, interventions, and developmental work," and for implementing projects to safeguard the interests of the people of Manipur .The official asked for persistent assistance from Central authorities while emphasizing four vital future goals: safeguarding Manipur’s territorial borders, controlling unlawful migration, stopping drug-related terrorism and completing border development projects on time.

The BJP maintains its majority position in the state even after National People's Party politician Conrad Sangma dropped his support. The resignation occurred preventatively because MLAs potentially opposed party orders during a floor test while seeking leadership changes.

The situation for Singh grew worse when the Kuki community member brought a complaint against the Chief Minister for instigating state violence before the Supreme Court. Audio tapes released without authorization were the foundation for the filed complaint against Singh The Manipur Governor is expected to decide on the next course of action soon.
