Digital Desk: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh thanked the Union Home Ministry for its decision to introduce new border pass regulations. This regulation will allow the nationals of Myanmar who reside within 10 km of the border to temporarily enter the Northeastern state of Manipur with a border pass, issued by the Assam Rifles.

CM N Biren Singh complimented the decision of the Union Home Ministry as 'a good beginning' for the regulation of cross-border immigration.

In a conversation with the reporters, the Manipur CM said, "Earlier, nobody paid attention to who was going in or out of the country. I thank the Union Home Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs for introducing this regulation. Not only Assam Rifles, but also the state police, health officials, and DC office staff at the border are involved. I urge everyone to take extra care and use advanced machinery to prevent illegal immigration."

Attending a commemoration event of former Manipur king Gambhir Singh on Friday, CM Singh interacted with the reporters and addressed various topics. He urged for strict vigilance and the use of advanced machinery by the Assam Rifles, state police, health officials, and district officials to prevent illegal immigration in the state.

The CM further addressed the recent suicide case of a 21-year-old girl at a relief camp and said that an FIR had been registered. He said, "According to the information available, the incident was not caused by ill-treatment or conditions inside the relief camp but due to personal issues. The case is under investigation."

Expressing his concerns over the misuse of social media platforms he added, "We have taken action in many cases through cybercrime units. Several people have been arrested and accounts have been blocked. We will continue to act in accordance with the law."
