Digital Desk: The Manipur government granted limited permission for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Congress had claimed denial of permission to commence the yatra from the Palace Ground in Imphal. KC Venugopal, the party's organization general secretary, asserted that an alternative location within Imphal would be chosen.

During a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra revealed that the government cited concerns about the state's law and order situation for denying permission. Meghachandra expressed disappointment but acknowledged the decision. Subsequently, the venue was shifted to a private location in Khongjom, Thoubal district.

"We met Manipur CM N Biren Singh in connection with the permission of the venue to organize Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra. Unfortunately, the government declined the permission for Hatta Kangjeibung in Imphal East district," Meghachandra stated.

Despite the setback, the Congress party adapted to the situation, emphasizing its commitment to the yatra's objectives in a new location.
