Digital Desk: The Manipur government has prohibited school trips with immediate effect till January 10, 2023, following a horrific tragedy in the Noney district that killed numerous pupils from a school on an excursion. 

Schools have been instructed not to conduct any excursions until January 10, 2023, due to morning fog and to avoid any untoward incident, according to an official statement published by the Directorate of Education, Government of Manipur. 

"It is directed to all Principals/Head Masters/Head Mistresses of all Government/Government Aided/Private Unaided Schools in the State not to organize/conduct school excursions until 10.01.2023, with immediate effect, to avoid any untoward incidents," the Directorate of Education said in a statement.

The directive has been issued, and all schools have been urged to implement it immediately. 

On Wednesday, at least seven students, all of whom were female, were killed and 40 others were injured when a bus carrying class 11 students from Thambalnu Higher Secondary School in Imphal East crashed. According to reports, they were on their way to Khoupum for an annual study-travel programme.
