Digital Desk: The Supreme Court of India has declined to hear an appeal filed by the Manipur Tribal Forum (MTF) demanding Indian Army protection for the Kuki tribe.

According to allegations that surfaced on Tuesday, the Supreme Court stated that it would be inappropriate for the court to issue such a directive to the Army and paramilitary forces.

While dismissing the petition, the Supreme Court stated that it would put pressure on the Central Government and the Manipur government to make preparations to protect the lives of the general public.

As per reports, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud denied the petition. DY Chandrachud has also asked all sides to maintain equilibrium and refrain from engaging in hate discourse.

It needs to be noted that the Supreme Court will also consider the Manipur Government's appeal against the High Court's judgement allowing the limited restoration of internet access in the violence-torn state.

On 7 July, the Manipur High Court ruled the state government to relax the internet ban on Internet Lease Line (ILL) and Fibre To The Home (FTTH) connections in the state after verifying that every party involved implemented the measures recommended by an Expert Panel.
