The People's Committee strongly urges the government to take serious steps to prosecute the murderers...

Digital Desk: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) opposing the Brutal Killing of two students, Phijam Hemanjit Singh and Lunangbi Linthoingamhi Hijam, by Kuki Militants has given the Manipur government 48 hours to return the bodies to their respective families.

The joint action committee was set up on Tuesday during a meeting at the Young Progressive Club, in Takyel Kolom Leikaigi Community Hall, Imphal West, according to the committee's statement.

Reportedly, the two Imphal West residents went missing on July 6 and on Monday, pictures of them lying on deathbeds emerged and pictures before murder with two Kuki militants in arms went viral. According to the committee statement, the situation has infuriated the Meitei people.

The People's Committee strongly urges the government to take serious steps against the murderers.

"The evidence is now available. The case with the CBI can be concluded and the guilty punished," the committee said in a statement.

The people's committee warned that if the government failed to meet the requests, citizens and voluntary organisations would revolt.
