Digital Desk: Manipur Police arrested another suspect in connection to the horrific incident in Manipur, where two women were paraded naked and subjected to sexual assault by a mob in conflict-hit Manipur.
This is the fifth arrest in relation to the investigation. The arrestee has been identified as Yumlembam Nungsithoi Metei (19).
The horrible incident occurred on May 4 of this year in Manipur's Thoubal district. A charge of kidnapping, gang rape, and murder was filed against the culprits at the Nongpok Sekmai Police station.
The Center directed all social media platforms to remove the viral video after it went viral since the situation is under investigation.
The viral video created outrage all over the world.
Notably, the police made their first arrest when they nabbed 32-year-old Huirem Heradas Singh. Later, an angry mob, largely women, set fire to his home.
On the same day, three additional arrests were made. Four of the culprits were taken into 11-day police custody on Friday.
