Daily raids are underway in violence-prone areas of Manipur, aimed at rooting out arms trafficking...

Digital Desk: The seamless influx of arms, ammunition, and war-like supplies in strife-torn Manipur continues to escalate concerns among its residents.

In yet another significant seizure on Saturday, security forces recovered an assault rifle, a pistol, multiple rounds of bullets, explosives, and more.

Despite concerted efforts by authorities to stem the tide of illicit weapons, such incidents have become routine in Manipur. The latest interception occurred in Sangaithel village, within Imphal West district, where security forces seized empty magazines, a 9 mm pistol, a carbine machine gun (CMG), four grenades, two mortar shells, and 60 live rounds of ammunition, alongside communication devices like walkie-talkies.

Daily raids are underway in violence-prone areas of Manipur, aimed at rooting out arms trafficking. However, with the Lok Sabha elections ongoing, this proliferation poses a grave threat to Manipur's democratic fabric.

This concern was underscored by a recent incident where security forces apprehended 11 armed individuals disguised as police officers on April 30, highlighting the urgency of addressing this pressing issue.
