The protesters claim that this is the second suicide death at the Lovely Professional University in Phagwara in the past ten days.

Digital Desk: Massive protests erupted hours after a student committed suicide at a university in Punjab, lasting until late Tuesday, as students demanded an investigation.

According to the demonstrators, this is the second suicide death at the Lovely Professional University in Phagwara in 10 days.

Agni S Dilip, aged 21, of Kerala, was studying design at the university and was dealing with "personal troubles," according to the police, who referred to a suicide note.

"On Tuesday afternoon, a first-year B. Design student at LPU committed suicide. DSP Phagwara indicated that the student appeared to be dealing with personal troubles, as shown by the message they left "Kapurthala police sent a tweet.

A similar justification was given by the university in a statement.

"According to the retrieved suicide note, the student took this drastic action due to personal troubles he faced at his previous institution, NIT Calicut (Kerala), where he studied for two years," the statement said.

It went on to say that the protest was the result of a "misunderstanding" among the pupils.
