New Delhi: Justice BV Nagarathna is all set the become the first women chief justice of India. As per sources, the Supreme Court collegium has recommended her name.

Nine judges have been recommended by the collegium of the supreme court led by Chief Justice NV Ramana for the promotion to the top court.

She is expected to take over the post by 2027.

Justice Hima Kohli and Justice are the two other women who have also been recommended by the collegium.

Justice BV Nagarathna, who is presently a judge with the Karnataka High Court, has also been recommended by the Collegium. She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka in 2008 and as a permanent judge nearly two years later.
