Digital Desk: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, launched and handed over 207 Waste Collection e-Vehicles to different blocks in East Jaintia Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills, and West Jaintia Hills to fulfill the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). A key turning point in the state's dedication to cleanliness was reached at the occasion, which was attended by MDC Umroi, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, PHE Minister Marcuise N. Marak, and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.

Speaking to the gathering, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed satisfaction with the quick progress made in just nine months, with the state rising from just 10% to an amazing 84.33% in ODF Plus. He declared that to rank among the top ten states in terms of cleanliness, the department and the government would work nonstop.

"Distribution of e-Vehicles to different communities is a step forward, ensuring government collaboration with citizens. Collaborating with a clear goal and enthusiasm can have a noticeable impact," Sangma said, emphasizing the value of community involvement. 

Additionally, Chief Minister Sangma unveiled a quarterly program in which society and the government will work together to clean towns and villages. He emphasized that in order to create a better and healthier future, it is imperative to instill in the next generation the cultural and traditional values of hygiene and cleanliness.

The state's ambitious goals for 2024–2025 were presented by Minister Marcuise M. Marak. These plans included building communal sanitary complexes, installing over 1 lakh individual family latrines, and implementing fecal sludge management units in addition to achieving 100% ODF Plus. The minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to environmental sustainability by announcing the establishment of Govardhan and Plastic Waste Management facilities.
