Meghalaya Commerce and Industries Department Launches Residential Film Making Internship under RAMP in Collaboration with Prag Film and Television Institute (PFTI) Guwahati
Guwahati , April 22, 2026: The Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Meghalaya, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme, has collaborated with the Prag Film and Television Institute (PFTI), Guwahati, to launch a three-month residential internship programme in film making exclusively for youth from Meghalaya. The programme commenced on 22nd April 2026.
A total of 60 interns from across different districts of Meghalaya have joined the first batch of the internship. The initiative aims to enhance skill development, employability, and entrepreneurship opportunities for Meghalaya’s youth in the growing film, media, and creative industries.
The internship is fully residential, and the Commerce and Industries Department of Meghalaya will provide a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 to each intern for the entire duration of the programme.
During the internship period, Prag Film and Television Institute (PFTI) will provide comprehensive hands-on training along with theoretical inputs in film making. Interns will gain exposure to pre-production, production, and post-production processes, including technical and creative aspects of film and television. Training sessions will be conducted at PFTI’s campuses in Akshat Tower ,near Nidhi Bhawan,5th floor,Near, Games Village, Lalmati, Guwahati, Assam 781029Lalmati and Prag Tower, Ulubari Guwahati -781007, Guwahati.
The programme reflects the Government of Meghalaya’s commitment, under RAMP, to develop skilled human resources, strengthen the MSME ecosystem, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth of the state, particularly in emerging sectors such as media, entertainment, and creative entrepreneurship.
This collaborative initiative is expected to contribute significantly to nurturing local talent, promoting storytelling from Meghalaya, and enabling participants to pursue careers or enterprises in the film and media industry.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent figures from the North Eastern media industry, including Dr. Sanjive Narain, CMD of Prag News, Jitendra Ashit Chutia, CEO, and Rajesh Bhuyan, Channel Head of Rengoni.
Speaking at the event, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of technical skill-building in the film and television sector. The program aims to provide aspiring filmmakers from Meghalaya with hands-on experience, industry exposure, and the necessary tools to professionalize their craft, eventually contributing to the MSME sector in the region. The residential nature of the course ensures that students receive immersive, around-the-clock training in various aspects of production, editing, and storytelling.
