Shillong: Ferdinand B Lyngdoh, son of late Meghalaya Chief Minister E.K. Lyngdoh was burned to death inside his automobile. Yesterday in the Ri-Bhoi district, an incident occurred at Umran Diary on the Shillong-Guwahati national route. 

Ferdinand B Lyngdoh, an Assistant Professor in charge of the Department of Basic Science and Humanities at the College of Community Science in Sangsanggre, Tura, was also Congress MLA George Lyngdoh's younger brother.

According to the statement, he was heading from Tura to Shillong when his automobile ruptured, and flames consumed the entire vehicle.

Ri-Bhoi Superintendant of Police Nazarius Lamare stated that the AC ruptured and the window fully sealed due to tremendous pressure. Furthermore, at least six persons were killed when a bus carrying 22 passengers crashed into a river between Nongchram hamlet in the East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills districts about midnight on September 29.

The MTC night bus, transporting 22 people, traveled at high speed between Tura and Shillong when it went off the bridge at Nongchram and plummeted into the Ringdi river.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has conveyed his condolences over the deaths of the six people involved in the tragedy. 

At least 16 passengers were injured when a Meghalaya state transport company passenger bus plummeted into the Ringdi River in the early hours of Thursday. 

According to a senior police officer, the night super bus plunged into the Ringdi River near Nongchram in the East Garo Hills District while heading from Tura to the state capital Shillong.
