Digital Desk: After being prevented from leading a parade against the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's (J&K) semi-autonomous status on August 5, 2019, through the nullification of the Constitution's Article 370, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti staged a protest outside her party headquarters in Srinagar.

Exact three years ago, J&K was similarly split into two Union Territories, and Mufti was among the hundreds of individuals imprisoned to stop rallies against changes to the region's constitutional status in 2019.

On Friday, Mufti was joined by dozens of her followers as they shouted anti-revocation, anti-arrest, and anti-killing chants. Additionally, Mufti called for the release of captives and an end to the Kashmir conflict.

"On the third anniversary of the Constitution's Article 370 repeal, we intended to march to Lal Chowk [in the heart of Srinagar]. Police forbade us from leaving our office, according to Mohit Bhan, a representative for Mufti's People's Democratic Party.

Mufti blasted the governing Bharatiya Janata Party in a series of tweets (BJP). "As the BJP's evil plans for J&K have come to light, the pattern of repression and fear is now knocking on the doors of other parts of the country as well. It has been standard practise to weaponize their favourite agencies and crush criticism using terror laws.

She charged that the government had undermined every tenet of democracy and was thus trampling on it. "The BJP's falsely claimed integration of J&K has cost us dearly," She also said that unemployment and inflation are at all-time highs, and that J&K has seen a decline in development indexes.

Omar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, declared that the group would continue to fight for J&K's constitutional rights through all available legal and legal measures. The path ahead may be long and full of detours, but  JKNC will not give up on it.
