Digital Desk: With the return to the White House of Donald Trump, technological companies are modifying rapidly to line up with the new management. Facebook, Instagram, and Thread’s parent company Meta is taking a brave step by maintaining its content restraint program.

Zuckerberg’s Meta is a fact-checking program that was introduced after the U.S. Election, 2016 and it aimed to battle fake news but often depicts criticism for errors, perceived bias, and overreach. Many convey discouragement over posts-old being mistakenly removed or flagged, leading to
disappointment with the platform.

In a video statement, Mark Zuckerberg (CEO) has reported the withdrawal of third-party fact-checkers across the platform of Meta. Zuckerberg also included the replacement of third-party fact-checkers with a user-driven system called ‘Community Notes’. This new replica is inspired by Elon Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter), and permits users to flag and provide context for
content they find confusing. This feature is set to launch in the US in the forthcoming months.

"Our content moderation efforts, though well-meaning, have gone too far. Too many users feel unfairly censored or find themselves in the 'Facebook Jail' over harmless content. We need to return to our commitment to free expression," said the Meta’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, Joey
Kaplan.

Beneath the latest system, Meta will give attention to conveying high-gravity violations and stop conquering indicated content. Meta will aim to build stability between freedom of speech and responsible discourse while decreasing dependency on the outermost mediation.
