Digital Desk: A migrant worker from Bihar was killed in a targeted attack by terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, reports said.
 
Reportedly, the man who was rushed to a hospital by ambulance succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Raju Shah. The attackers fired two close-range bullets, one into his neck and the other into his abdomen. 
 
Authorities cordoned off the area in search of the attackers after the incident took place in the Jablipora Bijbehera area of Anantnag. 

Taking to ‘X’, the Kashmir Zone Police wrote, “The injured person, who was shot at by #terrorists, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Search #operation underway in the area. Further details to follow.”

Mahbooba Mufti, the former chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir and head of the PDP, as well as Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and former union minister, condemned the attack and extended their sympathies to the bereaved family. 

This targeted attack on an outsider occurred just a few days before the commencement of Phase 1 of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election. This is the second attack in less than a week, following on April 8 a non-local tourist taxi driver was shot and injured in the Shopian area. 

Additionally, sources stated, that The Resistance Front (TRF), a group known to be a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, claimed responsibility for the attack in a Telegram channel. It was described by the terrorists as a "gift for your elections."
