According to accounts, the incident gained attention when a user going by the name Pranash Shandilya said that a plot to bomb the official quarter was being developed after a local news outlet released a video clip featuring Assam minister Atul Bora.

The Facebook user statement on the social platform read, "Atul Bora quatert bomb plant r plan kora hoise. Ami ulfa r pora sob kori asu. Besi din jiyai nathake ee (A plan is being brewed to plant a bomb at the quarter of Atul Bora. We in the ULFA are doing everything. You will not live for too long)."



Regarding the incident, Assam's DGP GP Singh also tweeted, "Reference threat to Hon Minister Sri Atul Bora on a Facebook post, Assam CID has been directed to register a criminal case and take lawful action. No such threat would be acceptable against elected representatives as it threatens the democratic polity."
