Digital Desk: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty's mother, Santirani Chakraborty, passed away on Friday. Mithun's youngest son, Namashi Chakraborty, confirmed the news.
Namashi told Anand Bazaar Online, "Yes, the news is true. Grandma has passed away."
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh expressed sadness on Santirani's death. Ghosh wrote on his Twitter handle, "Heartfelt condolences to Mithun Chakraborty for the loss of his mother. May Mithunda and her family bear this deep grief."
In April 2020, Mithun Chakraborty's father, Basantokumar Chakraborty, passed away.
In an earlier interview, Mithun had talked about his parents. "My parents had no idea that I had finally become a Bollywood star. They never accepted the idea that their son was a popular movie star, and they had no desire to find out. They were straightforward, traditional people who lived simple lives. My father worked as a supervisor at a government phone exchange, but he was a happy man with a happy family," he said.
Namashi Chakraborty recently made his Bollywood debut in Rajkumar Santoshi's Bad Boy. Mithun Chakraborty's next film will be Baap.
