Digital Desk: Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Dispur police station over his remarks on the Miya community.

Bhuyan claimed that the chief minister joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to incite communal hatred.

"The chief minister has targeted a specific community. There is a strict law in the Supreme Court prohibiting people from making communal statements," he said.

Bhuyan criticized the chief minister, saying, "Who gave Himanta Biswa Sarma the right to make a communal comment on the Miya community?"

Earlier today, the Asom Sankhayalaghu Sangram Parishad filed an FIR against the chief minister at Nagaon Sadar police station for his controversial remarks, which included the use of the term 'Miya Assamese' and insensitive comments about the food habits of different communities.

The Parishad emphasized the alleged connection between the chief minister and Badruddin Ajmal, questioning the reasons behind the former's statements, the report said.

The chief minister's words received widespread criticism, with critics claiming that they damage social cohesion and promote community division. Reportedly, if the Miya people are threatened with expulsion, the Asom Sankhayalaghu Sangram Parishad has vowed to start a powerful public movement, promoting inclusivity and harmony.
