Digital Desk: Mizoram Legislative Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama appealed on Tuesday for the Mizo language to include the Indian Constitution's 8th Schedule because it helps protect cultural heritage. During the speech at the 85th All India Presiding Officers' Conference in Patna he asked national leaders to make this project work.

During the 85th conference Lalbiakzama joined others to praise India's democratic roots as the birthplace of democracy. He said protecting the Constitution becomes essential to keep our diverse society safe and we need to unite in that effort.

He urged leaders to keep up the ban on religious discrimination so that people of all faiths can worship according to their beliefs. He mentioned the December 29 attacks on Christian minorities in West Bengal and commended Speaker Biman Banerjee for his quick reaction.

Through his speech Lalbiakzama commended the work of Parliament and State Assemblies for creating important programs like MNREGS and NFSA that help poor populations live better lives. He encouraged the legislators to defend justice and welfare by obeying the Constitution while making sure all communities respect each other.
