Digital Desk: A government school teacher in Mizoram who was detained last week for removing a six-year-old pupil's school uniform and sending her home has been suspended for misconduct, according to the state's director of school education H Lalthlangliana.
According to
Lalthlangliana, orders were given on Monday to suspend the PC Lalbiaksangi due
to her continuing imprisonment under the Juvenile Justice Act. She served as
the school's acting headmistress and had worked as a contract worker for
Samagra Shiksha, a comprehensive programme for the education sector, for years.
She was detained on
Saturday, and a magistrate remanded her into detention for a period of 14 days
on Sunday.
On August 22, after
learning that her daughter had been assaulted by a classmate, the mother of the
kid came to the Thangpui Primary school in the Lunglei region of Mizoram,
angering Lalbiaksangi, who was assigned there. Lalbiaksangi reprimanded the
boy.
Later, the teacher
reported the event on a WhatsApp group for teachers and called the girl's
mother to chastise her for breaking the rules.
I went to the school
on August 25 to bring my kid and her sibling because I was so irate and furious
over this. At this point, the teacher stepped in and advised me to leave my
child's outfit behind because another student required it if I wanted to take
her home. Then, in front of me and my daughter's classmates, she was stripped,
leaving my daughter wearing only her panties. The mother said that she handed
the other student the school uniform.
The school's Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) student body has urged that the instructor be fired.
