Guwahati:Bhabanipur constituency MLA Phanidhar Talukdar to join BJP on August 21 report said.
Earlier, the AIUDF MLA Talukdar denied the rumours of joining the ruling party. But, upon being asked of his shifting to BJP, Talukdar asserted, “I had not decided to shift to Bharatiya Janata Party.”
However, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that Talukdar spokes with him several times and showed interest in joining BJP in August.
In July, Assam BJP president Bhabesh Kalita informed the media that AIUDF leader Phanidhar Talukdar would join the BJP towards the end of August.
However, in connection to Talukdar shifting to BJP, AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal has made no comments on it.
Notably, from the past few months, Congress has seen many joining to BJP. Recently two-time Congress MLA Sushanta Borgohain has switched to BJP due to internal disputes.
Moreover, In June, former Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi and Guwahati district Congress Committee President Jury Sharma Bordoloi resigned from Congress.
Now it seems AIUDF will witness its MLAs switching over to other parties.
