Partha Chatterjee had already told the media that the money found does not belong to him and that only time would reveal who had "conspired" against him. He continued by saying, "I have never engaged in such dealings."

Digital Desk: Arrested Partha Chatterjee's close aide Arpita Mukherjee on Tuesday said that the money does not belong to her and was kept there in her absence.

More than Rs 50 crores in cash had already been seized by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from her flats in Kolkata.

Partha Chatterjee, a former West Bengal minister, and Arpita Mukherjee were placed in ED custody till August 3.

Chatterjee is allegedly involved in a recruitment scam involving Group "C" and "D" employees, primary teachers, and assistant teachers for grades IX to XII.

The investigation agency is currently conducting raids at four locations in relation to the teacher recruitment scam. The ED reportedly received documents and information concerning a flat in the Fort Oasis housing complex while questioning Arpita, leading to the ED conducting a raid on the flat.

On July 22, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at Arpita Mukherjee's home and found Rs 21.90 crore in cash. The investigation agency also found gold worth Rs. 76 lakh and foreign currency worth Rs. 56 lakh.

Days later, the ED raided Arpita Mukherjee's second residence and found an additional Rs 28.90 crore in cash, more than 5 kg of gold, and other papers.
The money that was found is suspected to be the proceeds of the teacher recruitment scam.

Partha Chatterjee had already told the media that the money found does not belong to him and that only time would reveal who had "conspired" against him. He continued by saying, "I have never engaged in such dealings."

Following Partha Chatterjee's arrest by the ED in the teacher's recruitment scam case, Trinamool Congress suspended him and was removed from the Bengal ministry
