Dhubri Police raided a house in Ironjongla, Newghat area in Dhubri, and recovered more than four lakhs of contraceptive Sukhi tablets. These tablets have been illegally brought from Bangladesh and hidden inside plastic sacks. Dhubri police got tips about the smuggling of these tablets.

These contraceptive Sukhi tablets were smuggled by some miscreants from Bangladesh and stored in one Shamsul Haque’s resident in Newghat, Ironjongla. Shamsul has been allegedly selling this Bangladesh’s sukhi contraceptives in several districts of Assam, said police.

Police stated that these contraceptives are distributed in the country, free of cost, and have been smuggled to Dhubri district from Bangladesh from time to time.

Police arrested Mozammel Haque, cousin of Shamsul Haque, who was allegedly involved in the business. Mozammel managed to escape, during the raid.

Dhubri police is still interrogating arrested Mozammel Haque, said Partha Pratim Gogoi, Officer in charge, Dhubri.
