Guwahati: Ahead of the festive seasons, the Assam government and State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide bank loans to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) employees of the state government on Friday.

The MoU was signed here in the presence of Assam finance minister Ajanta Neog and SBI’s Assistant General Manager Binoy Kumar.

Announcing the initiative, finance minister Ajanta Neog tweeted, “Today,An MoU was signed between Government of Assam & State Bank of India in presence of Commissioner Sec,Addl Sec of Finance Dept.Under this initiative, Divyang employees of GoA will be able to avail 4% subsidy on loan interest for purchasing of two/four wheeler #statebankofindia.”

As per the MoU, under the initiative PwD employees of the state government can avail bank loans up to Rs. 10 lakhs for purchasing two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Assam government will provide a four per cent subsidy of the total loan amount.
