Digital Desk: The Mumbai Cyber Crime has filed a charge sheet against businessman and Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra and others in connection with the case of producing and streaming pornographic content.
Last week, the Mumbai Cyber Crime Unit filed a 1000-page chargesheet before the Esplanade court.
In response to the new chargesheet, Kundra's lawyer, Prashant Patil, stated that he learned about the charesgeet through media reports and that they will follow the legal procedure to collect the chargesheet.
"We learned from media reports that the Mumbai Cyber Crime has filed a chargesheet in the aforementioned matter before the court."We will appear in court to comply with the due process of law and to obtain a copy of the chargesheet," Patil stated.
He further stated that his client has nothing to do with the alleged crime and that there is no prima facie case against him.
"However, whatever claims we may gather from the FIR and media sources, it is safe to say that my client had nothing to do with the alleged crime. There is no solid evidence to support a case against him. We will pursue the legal process and make certain that he receives justice," he stated.
He further stated that Raj Kundra has the right to be heard and that he will go to court to seek justice and safeguard his name and dignity.
Raj Kundra was arrested along with 11 other people on July 19, last year, on charges linked to the suspected creation of pornographic films and was held in judicial custody for more than two months.
Raj Kundra was granted bail in the pornographic case by a Mumbai court on September 20 of last year on a surety of Rs 50,000.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch filed a separate chargesheet in the case, which was followed by a supplementary chargesheet in September.
He was charged under the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and the Information Technology Act.
Kundra was accused of making and distributing pornographic films using a subscriber-driven mobile app called 'Hotshots.'
On the other hand, Kundra has denied all of the claims leveled against him, claiming that he has been wrongfully implicated.
