A sophisticated government job fraud has reportedly cost seven Mumbai families a staggering ₹68.5 lakh, with perpetrators falsely claiming influential connections within the Maharashtra Mantralaya (State Secretariat). The Azad Maidan Police have registered a case and initiated a search for the accused individuals.
According to Mumbai Police, the extensive scam involved collecting substantial sums from multiple families under the guise of securing coveted government positions for their children. Following complaints filed by the victims, law enforcement officials have booked two individuals on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.
Investigations have revealed that the fraudulent scheme dates back to 2014. Among those targeted was a retired Sister-in-Charge from GT Hospital, who was seeking employment opportunities for her son. She was allegedly approached by Suryakant Nivrutti Magre, a neighbour and colleague residing in the GT Hospital staff quarters. Magre reportedly introduced her to his relative, Yogesh Jagannath Patankar, who was claimed to have direct links within the Mantralaya, thereby facilitating the bogus job offers.
Over several years, the accused collectively swindled the hefty sum from the seven families, exploiting their aspirations for stable government employment. The Azad Maidan Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for this long-running deception.
