  • This building had previously led to a tragic death of a woman when a wall collapsed and fell on her

Digital Desk: In Dibrugarh's Loharpatty, the municipal corporation has taken decisive action against an illegally constructed five-storey building.

The unauthorised structure was demolished following directives from the authorities after it had sparked significant public concern and criticism over municipal negligence.

This building had previously led to a tragic incident when a wall collapsed, tragically killing Salma Begum, a neighbouring resident.

She was washing utensils near her tubewell when bricks and a concrete wall from the under-construction building fell on her.

Constructed on a narrow plot of approximately 12-14 feet in width, the five-storey structure posed serious safety risks.

Despite prior orders to halt construction, the building's owner, Yunus Khan, defied the directives and continued work on the site.

Today, a large team of district administration officials and municipal corporation personnel arrived at the site to execute the demolition, ensuring the illegal structure was dismantled and compliance with the law was upheld.
