Digital Desk: Assam is set to receive major announcements and project inaugurations today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in the state for a packed schedule of events.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Chabua Airfield at 9:50 am and proceed to Moran at 10:00 am. His aircraft will land on the ELIF stretch of the national highway in Moran, where multiple aircraft operations, including take-offs and landings of 16 aircraft, will take place over a span of 30 minutes.
From Moran, the Prime Minister will depart for Guwahati at 12:30 pm.
At 1:00 pm, he will inaugurate the Guwahati–North Guwahati connecting Kumar Bhaskar Varma Bridge, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in the region. The project was initiated in 2019 but faced delays in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a major boost to Assam’s education sector, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Guwahati. The IIM was approved during the Congress regime, and there were earlier discussions about setting it up in Shillong. However, it is now being formally launched in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone for the state’s academic landscape.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the NIC Data Center at Amingaon and flag off 100 electric buses for the people of Guwahati, strengthening public transport infrastructure in the city.
Unlike a roadshow, the visit will feature a brief cultural programme.
At 2:00 pm, the Prime Minister will also attend a BJP booth-level conference at Khanapara.
Responding to questions regarding opposition alliances, it was stated that whether the opposition unites or not, the government remains focused on development initiatives for the state.
