Digital Desk: The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL), the supreme authority in India for all wildlife-related matters, has approved five megaprojects for Assam, marking a major advancement in wildlife conservation.

Taking to X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared it on Thursday.

The projects that have been approved by the NBWL include:

1. Elevated Corridor near Kaziranga National Park
2. Guwahati Ring Road project including the Narengi - Kurua Bridge.
3. Deepor Beel Railway Elevated Corridor (13.31 Ha)
4. Deepor Beel Elevated Railway corridor (0.3 Ha)
5. Chapaguri to Amteka Assam Mala project Road up to the Bhutan border

These initiatives aim to improve connections throughout the state and raise the bar for animal conservation. 

For the significant development, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his appreciation to Union Cabinet Minister Bhupender Yadav for the Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. 

Taking to X, CM Sarma wrote"I extend my deep personal gratitude to Sri @byadavbjp Hon. Minister for Forest and Environment for this huge development. #assam is on the rise.”




Notably, a 35 km elevated route from Jakhalabandha to Bokakhat will be established at the National Highway (NH)-37 segment of Kaziranga National Park. 

The goal of the Guwahati Ring Road project, which also entails building the Narengi-Kurua Bridge, is to improve connectivity in Guwahati and surrounding areas. 

Up to the Bhutan border, the Chapaguri to Amteka Assam Mala Project Road seeks to enhance road connectivity. It is anticipated that the project will make trade and travel between Bhutan and Assam easier.
