Digital Desk: The pride of Kokrajhar and a very renowned football striker of the Indian football team, Durga Boro, has officially bid farewell to the football field, at the end of an overpowering journey that has inspired thousands of followers throughout the nation.


The emotional farewell took place on Saturday night at Kokrajhar's Sai Stadium, during a friendly match between Assam XI and Bodoland FC. Playing for Assam XI, Durga Boro featured in the last game of his glitzy career, bringing the curtain down on his decades of service in cricket.


He shed tears as he walked out of the pitch for the last time. Filled with emotion, still, Boro was able to say a word or two,


Born in Gendrabil of Kokrajhar, Durga Boro started out in the game of football back in 1999 at Kokrajhar Government HS and MP School. Thanks to his talent and hard work, he hit the national arena where he became the representative of some of the most renowned clubs such as Oil India, SAI, Mumbai Tigers, Shillong Lajong, NorthEast United FC, NEROCA FC, and Guwahati FC.


Boro was rewarded with an aronai, a floral bouquet, certificate of appreciation by the Assam Football Association in recognition of his work for Indian football. He was also given a special citation by the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government.


The farewell ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including  Kokrajhar MP Jayanta Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary, Assam Football Association General Secretary Dr.Sangrang Brahma, and other sports bodies and organizations, who also honored the great career of Boro.


With Durga Boro’s retirement, an era ends; however, his impact on football shall still be remembered and passed down to the generations that emerge to take part in the game of the best, Durga Boro.
