Digital Desk: South African and Australian players paid tribute to the victims of the Air India plane crash by observing a minute's silence and wearing black armbands before the third day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord's on Friday.

The Air India aircraft, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed just 33 seconds after takeoff, slamming into buildings near Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday.

Following the deadly crash of the London-bound flight, a total of 240 people lost their lives, with only one survivor, marking it as the deadliest aviation disaster in a decade.

Indian players and members of the support staff also wore black armbands and observed a minute of silence on Friday before the start of the Intra-squad match in Beckenham for the Air India plane crash victims.

The aircraft was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal with First Officer and a young co-pilot, Clive Kundar.
