India's multi-sport event is hosting athletes from 28 states, 8 Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board of the country.


Digital Desk: The 38th edition of the National Games is currently underway in Uttarakhand featuring more than 10,000 athletes and the closing date is scheduled for February 14. The Indian Olympic Association gave the hosting rights to Uttarakhand for the 38th edition of the National Games during the closing ceremony of the National Games 2023.


India's multi-sport event is hosting athletes from 28 states, 8 Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board of the country. The athletes have been competing in 32 different sports across multiple venues and representing their own states since January 26.


Manipur's Sarungbam Athouba Meitei clinched the first gold of the 38th edition of the National Games. He won the men's individual triathlon event on the opening day. Dolly Devidas Patil of Maharashtra won the women's triathlon gold.


Services Sports Control Board currently leads the medals tally with 56 medals- 31 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze. Karnataka and Maharashtra have achieved second and third positions respectively. Karnataka has won 56 medals with 30 gold, 11 silver, and 15 bronze, while Maharashtra won 94 medals with 19 gold, 38 silver and 37 bronze. Assam is now in 29th position with 20 overall medals- 12 silver and 8 bronze.


The National Games 2025 will feature some of the top athletes including Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain, Swapnil Kusale, Sarabjot Singh, and Vijay Kumar.


Some of the big athletes will also be in action for the athletics events such as Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Parul Chaudhary, Ancy Sojan Edappilly, Jyothi Yarraji, and Amoj Jacob among others.
