Immediately after Subhalakshmi Dutta was brought before the court earlier today, according to sources, the Sivasagar Police requested four days of her imprisonment.

Digital Desk: Subhalakshmi Dutta, the suspended Additional SP of Assam's Charaideo district, surrendered herself to the Sivasagar Police for her alleged participation in an assault case, and sources say she has been remanded to three days in police custody.

Immediately after Subhalakshmi Dutta was brought before the court earlier today, according to sources, the Sivasagar Police requested four days of her imprisonment.

Notably, Dutta eventually surrendered on Saturday morning outside the Sivasagar district superintendent of police's office. Since August 26, when Anima Praja, a domestic helper at Dutta's Nazira apartment, filed a lawsuit against her, Dutta has been missing.

In her complaint, Praja said that while working as a domestic assistant, Dutta tried to kill her and brutally tormented her.

Hot water was also dumped on the victim's body in a disturbing act of brutality, and she was confined to a bathroom, exposing a shocking instance of torture.

The victim, who had no other option, then bravely filed an official case against Subhalakshmi Dutta at Nazira police station.

Prior to Dutta's surrender, Assam DGP GP Singh published a statement on X declaring that the Nazira chapter had been closed.

He wrote, "The Nazira chapter is closed. Law takes its own course. Uncompromising position of Assam Police in crimes against women & children."
