Digital Desk: Subhalakshmi Dutta, the suspended Additional Superintendent of Police (border) in Charaideo district, surrendered on Saturday morning outside the superintendent of police's office in the Sivasagar district. Her surrender follows weeks of being on the run since August 26 when Anima Praja, a domestic worker at Dutta's Nazira residence, filed a case against her.

Praja's complaint alleges that Dutta attempted to murder her and brutally tortured her during her tenure as domestic help. The allegations include the horrifying act of pouring scalding hot water onto the victim's body and confining her to a bathroom, painting a harrowing picture of abuse.

Faced with these unbearable circumstances, the victim exhibited immense courage by lodging a formal complaint at the Nazira police station against Subhalakshmi Dutta.

Sources close to the case have revealed that the victim bears visible scars of unimaginable abuse, leading to widespread outrage within the community.

Dutta's surrender marks a crucial turning point in this shocking case, raising expectations for a fair and thorough investigation to ensure justice is served for Anima Praja.
