Digital Desk: In connection with a drug case connected to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday filed draught charges against actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and others before a special court.

Atul Sarpande, a special public prosecutor, stated that the prosecution continued to bring charges against each defendant as outlined in the charge sheet submitted to the court. The prosecution has asked the court to indict Rhea and Showik for consuming drugs as well as for obtaining and paying for them on behalf of the late actor Rajput.

Sarpande said that the court was going to file charges against each suspect. However, it was impossible as some of the convicts filed for discharge. Further, he added that the court has stated that the charges won't be filed until the discharge pleas have been resolved.

Reportedly, Rhea and Showik were among the suspects who appeared before the court on Wednesday. The case was posted for hearing on July 12 by special judge V G Raghuwanshi, who hears matters involving the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In this case, Chakraborty was detained in September 2020. However, nearly a month after her arrest, the Bombay High Court granted her bail.

Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and several others are also charged in the case for drug consumption, distribution, and funding of drugs, but most of them are on bail.
