Guwahati: During the question hour of the ongoing state assembly Assam Agriculture and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora informed that nearly 1.4 lakh illegal immigrants have been identified in accordance with the Assam Accord of which 29, 984 have been deported already.

In reply to a question asked by AGP MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita in the ongoing Assam assembly, Atul Bora said 300 Foreigners Tribunals have been set up, out of which only 100 are fully functional.

Additionally, the minister informed that 98.35 per cent of work has been completed in the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to objections raised by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) fencing work for 4.35 km of the border in Karimganj district is remaining.

Already, the Union Home Ministry has initiated a technological solution for border domination at Karimganj Sector and the BSF is implementing the project added the Minister.
