Guwahati: Assam Congress MP Abdul Khaleque asks the BJP led government to ban slaughtering and sale of pork within 500 meters radius of mosques as pork is forbidden in Islam.

The reaction came after Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled the Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021 that bans the sale of beef within a 5 km radius of temples, Satra or other religious institutions belonging to Hindus.

In a press conference, Khaleque said, “Pork is haram according to Islam. So, the sale of Pork should be prohibited within 200-500 meters of mosques. I will praise the Chief Minister if he can take such a decision.”

“I would have appreciated the government if they would have taken the same measures with the pork meat also,” Khaleque added

Moreover, Kahleque questioned the CM how Hindus can consume pork meat which is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu according to Hinduism.
