Guwahati city witnessed one of the warmest days in nearly four years, with a temperature of 38.9 degrees...

Digital Desk: India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports observed a maximum temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius on June 7 in Guwahati, Assam, which was about 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal.

The city witnessed one of the hottest days in nearly four years, with a temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius recorded on June 13, 2019.

''Today's maximum temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius in Guwahati is the second highest in June.  The highest maximum temperature ever recorded at Guwahati in June is 39.0 degrees Celsius. It happened on June 13, 2019,'' said Sanjay Shaw, Director of Meteorology.


In the wake of the weather alert, the schools in Assam have already modified their school schedules in response to the current high temperatures to provide some comfort to students.

In addition, District Deputy Commissioners in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Kamrup (Metro), and other Assam districts have directed educational institutions to reschedule the class timings.
