Digital Desk: Following months of speculation, Netflix has officially launched its lower-cost, ad-supported subscription option. The Basics with Adverts plan will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. India isn't on the list since Netflix currently offers a low-cost mobile-only monthly package for Rs 179 per month.

Netflix had announced in a statement that the addition of Netflix's new Basics with Adverts plan will have no effect on the company's current subscription offerings.

The Netflix Basic with Adverts plan will give you access to a vast number of outstanding TV shows and films, as well as a personalized viewing experience that is available on a variety of TV and mobile devices.

The video quality for the Basic with Advert plan, on the other hand, will be adjusted to 720p/HD. If you're wondering how many advertisements you'll view per hour, the average is 4 to 5 minutes. Due to licence restrictions, Basic with Advert users will also have access to a limited amount of films and TV shows. Titles will not be available for download.

According to Netflix, the plan with advertisements is also a significant bonus for advertisers. "Basic with Adverts also represents an exciting opportunity for advertisers - the opportunity to reach a diverse audience, including younger viewers who increasingly do not watch linear TV, in a premium environment with a seamless, high-resolution adverts experience," the company stated.

Ads can be unpleasant, especially when you're watching a good show or movie, but Netflix claims the ads will be 15 to 30 seconds long and will play before and throughout shows and movies.
