The restaurant owner also intends to introduce another special thali in honour of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in the near future.

Digital Desk: According to reports, the US is prepared to spread out the red carpet for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit later this month. Aside from official pageantry, PM Modi will be greeted with a scrumptious welcome in the form of a special 'thali' dedicated to him.

A New Jersey restaurant has prepared the 'Modi Ji Thali' ahead of his visit in the US, according to news agency ANI. Chef Shripad Kulkarni's thali includes a variety of classic Indian dishes such as khichdi, rasgulla, sarson ka saag, Kashmiri dum aloo, idli, dhokla, chaanch, and papad.

According to chef Kulkarni, the thali was created to meet the needs of the Indian diaspora living in the area. The thali also pays homage to 2023 being proclaimed the International Year of Millets by the UN, following a recommendation from the Indian government, by presenting dishes made using millets.

The restaurant owner also intends to introduce another special thali in honour of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in the near future.

"We intend to launch this thali as soon as possible." I'm confident that it will gain popularity. "Once this succeeds, I intend to launch a Dr. Jaishankar Thali, because he, too, has that rockstar appeal among the Indian American community," the owner explained.

This isn't the first time Prime Minister Modi has had a special culinary dish named after him. A Delhi-based eatery dished up a thali called '56-inch Modi Ji' Thali ahead of his birthday on September 17, last year.

This month, Prime Minister Modi will make his first state visit to the United States, at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The US president and First Lady will host PM Modi for a state dinner on June 22 during his four-day visit, which begins on June 21.

Meanwhile, a week before PM Modi's visit to the US, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will arrive in Delhi on June 13 for a two-day visit to discuss various topics.
