LIVE: Senior Leader Rajen Gohain Resigned From BJP

In a major political development, senior BJP leader Rajen Gohain has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gohain formally announced his resignation at the BJP’s party’s Assam headquarters. A veteran politician, Rajen Gohain is a former state president of the BJP and a four-time Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaon. During the first term of the Narendra Modi government, he served as the Minister of State for Railways. In a letter to state BJP president Rajen Gohain said he was resigning from the primary membership of the party and stepping down from all party responsibilities with immediate effect.
