Digital Desk: A night of football excitement turned chaotic at Jamunamukh, Kampur, when violence broke out during the final match organized by the Jamunamukh Sports Association. The match was being held at Jamunamukh College playground between Kaziranga FC and Tawal FC, Manipur.
As the intense game ended in a draw, the referee decided to settle the result through a tiebreaker.However, when the audience went closer to the pitch to see the penalty shootout, organizational committee members supposedly assaulted them with sticks and rods and caused the panic and chaos amongst the spectator.
The tournament, which had been ongoing since 15th October , concluded in turmoil. Although spectators bought the tickets at price of ₹100 each, there was no proper security set up. Later the police rushed on the scene and put the situation under control.
The event has drawn criticism on how the organizers mismanaged and failed to ensure the safety of the crowd.
