  • Northeast Frontier Railway has declared additional cancellations, diversions, and partial terminations of train services due to severe flooding and continuous heavy rainfall in Assam's Simaluguri area

GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced significant additional disruptions to its train services, including a series of cancellations, diversions, and partial terminations. These measures have been necessitated by persistent flooding and heavy rainfall affecting the Simaluguri and adjoining areas within the Sivasagar district, which falls under the Tinsukia Division.

The railway authority confirmed that several vital long-distance trains have been rerouted to ensure operational continuity. Services such as the Rajdhani, Avadh Assam, Kamrup, and Vivek Express, along with other express trains, were diverted between August 1 and 4. These trains are now operating via the alternative Dibrugarh–North Lakhimpur–Rangapara North–Rangiya route.

Further impacting travel plans, the Guwahati–Dibrugarh and Dibrugarh–Guwahati Nagaland Express trains have been short-terminated and short-originated at Mariani on their scheduled dates. Additionally, NFR has fully cancelled numerous local services, encompassing passenger, DEMU, and Intercity Express trains. The list of cancelled services includes the Guwahati–Ledo, Ledo–Guwahati, Rangiya–New Tinsukia, New Tinsukia–Rangiya, and Jorhat Town–Tinsukia routes.

The ongoing heavy monsoon rainfall in the region continues to pose considerable challenges for railway operations. NFR officials are actively monitoring the situation and working to manage the disruptions while prioritizing passenger safety amidst the adverse weather conditions.
