Binod Munda is wanted in connection with four cases involving the PLFI in Jharkhand

Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted coordinated raids in Jharkhand and Assam, resulting in the apprehension of an armed cadre affiliated with the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI). The individual, identified as Binod Munda alias Sukkhwa, was captured in the Khunti district of Jharkhand. The raids, executed with the assistance of local law enforcement agencies, aimed to thwart the PLFI's efforts to revive its activities.

Binod Munda is wanted in connection with four cases involving the PLFI in Jharkhand. The NIA's actions come as part of its ongoing efforts to combat Naxal insurgencies and related extremist activities in affected regions. The PLFI, a splinter group of Naxalites, has been involved in various criminal activities, including extortion and violence, in pursuit of its ideological and strategic objectives.

During the operation, the NIA teams seized a significant amount of incriminating evidence, including PLFI-related documents, two walkie-talkies, five mobile phones, SIM cards, and Rs 11,000 in cash. These materials serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation into the activities of the PLFI and its associates.

Prior arrests in the case, along with the recovery of Rs 3 lakh in cash, arms, and ammunition, underscore the severity of the threat posed by the PLFI and the NIA's commitment to dismantling its network. The case, initiated on October 11, 2023, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, targets individuals involved in reviving the PLFI following the arrest of its leader, Dinesh Gope, by the NIA.

The PLFI's attempts to rejuvenate its operations involve extortion activities targeting coal traders, transporters, railway contractors, and businessmen across states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. The NIA's ongoing investigations seek to uncover the full extent of the PLFI's activities and bring those responsible to justice, thereby safeguarding the security and stability of the affected regions.
